GG Compactors Limited was established in 1982 as a waste compactor manufacturer; however previous associated companies were in production some ten years previous.

It was about this time that the first ever portable compactor to be introduced in the UK was designed and built by the company, and was marketed with the now-familiar title of Garbage Gorger. The portable compactor was unique in as much that it was completely hydraulic, with no electrical components, apart from the starter.

This meant greater reliability, a point that was soon recognised by the off shore oil industry. With no electrical components this was of course a great safety feature and an added advantage that enabled the compactor to be sold to the oil companies for use on the rigs in great numbers. This gave the company a foothold in the UK waste disposal industry, and enabled GG Compactors the revenue to develop the Lennox House Group into one of the major waste Compactor Manufacturers in the UK.
